The renter must ship back the rental items the day after the 3-day rental unless renting for more days. Our shipping options include insured shipping to you and return shipping back to us. Please keep your receipt when dropping off your package at your nearest UPS store.
 
The return shipping option label will be printed and placed in the box for easy return. Please return your rental in the same box with the same packing material. Please drop off your rental after your last rental day at the nearest UPS store.

The Free Space binaural microphone is the most affordable, high-quality binaural microphone on the market. The integrated microphone capsules are extremely sensitive and quiet. The capsules have a very natural presence, perfect for binaural recordings. The Free Space delivers portable, professional quality binaural in the palm of your hand. The Free Space has a very warm and solid response in the low to mid-range frequencies. This brings out the punch as well as provides low-end support for bass-heavy sounds. The frequency response of the capsules used in the Free Space rolls off slightly above 10kHz. This is excellent for recording instruments with loud high frequencies like drum cymbals or strummed acoustic guitars. It also prevents any harsh effects that are sometimes associated with binaural recordings using smaller capsules.

The microphone works well in windy conditions even without protection. Wind sounds realistic without affecting the binaural experience or overloading the microphones.

Why does it sound so natural?
The Free Space captures sound just like we hear sound in the real world with our own ears. When you listen to a recording captured with the Free Space using headphones or 3D capable speakers, you hear the sound as if you were there at the time of recording. The effect is so powerful because the Free Space design is based on 13+ years of research into binaural technology and human hearing.

Standard Output
The output of the Free Space binaural microphone is a stereo 3.5mm (1/8") output jack. Simply plug it into your favorite stereo audio recorder or microphone pre-amp, and start recording true binaural audio.

Mounting
The Free Space comes standard with a 1/4-20" microphone stand adapter installed in the base. The base of the microphone has a 1/4"-20 female thread mounting hole that can be mounted directly onto a tripod or grip handle. This version also has a 1/4-20 swivel mount on the top for adding a camera.

Battery
The Free Space contains a 9V alkaline battery added to the top of the chassis. The battery is used to power the microphone capsules.

Free Space uses matched hi-sensitivity capsules.
When renting from us, first-time renters please fill out our rental form. First-time renters may be required to pay a deposit which you will be refunded at the end of your rental. This form will help us and you get processed quickly so you can start renting faster.

You may be asked to pay a deposit on certain rentals which we will invoice you. This deposit will be refunded upon the return of the rental equipment. This is standard procedure on some special or higher-priced items.

We are always working on better ways to make renting easier.

START: If an item is available, you may purchase the rental and write the date you want it delivered. You will see the cost of the 3-day rental and at checkout, you will see the shipping cost to you plus the return label back to us.
DELIVERED: When your rental arrives, ensure everything is correct. Some items may require batteries that are not included in the rental. Some may include rechargeable batteries, and you may want to charge them up prior to using your rental items. Never store batteries in the unit itself until you are ready to use them; this will ensure you have a well-charged battery.
DAY AFTER RENTAL DATE: When you are ready to ship the rental back, tape the return label (that came in your rental box) on the same package and take it to your nearest UPS store, send us a note that it was shipped back so we can verify the rental is being returned. This will allow us to determine when the rental will be back in stock for the next rental customer. If the item shows "Out Of Stock", it means the item has been rented out.
DEPOSIT: If you were asked to make a deposit, The deposit will be refunded back to you upon the return of the rented item. It may be a day or two before you see the refund payment but we will notify you when the refund was sent.
